"Mega-Games: Generalprobe für das Internationale Management“

This is the title of my article in the current issue of Mondial, a specialist magazine focussing on intercultural issues and combining personal experiences, academic articles and discussions on controversial intercultural topics.

My topic? The challenges of international management demand not only strategic and analytical thinking, but above all intercultural skills. How can we prepare future managers to master these challenges? I have been teaching on the Master of International Business programme at the Berlin University of Applied Sciences since 2015 and use a particularly effective method: Mega-Games. In the mega-game I developed, students simulate international project management and intercultural communication. They experience at first hand what it means to act and make decisions in a multicultural environment.

Imagine being able to immerse yourself in a completely different culture, understand its way of thinking and action strategies and then negotiate successfully. That’s exactly what my students experience. And the beauty of it? Mistakes are not seen as defeats, but as learning opportunities. In an era of globalisation, such experiences are invaluable. They prepare our students not only for the world of work, but also to act as citizens of a global community.

If you would like to learn more about how mega-games can be used in education, or if you are interested in collaborating, I would love to hear from you.

Best regards and stay curious!
