Gifts for business partners
Gummy bears or chocolates? Admittedly, the list of possible small gifts for my interlocutors in Beijing is already a bit longer. But that's not really the point. What's important to me is solely the question: With what can I delight each of my business partners?

Each gift is meant to not only express appreciation towards the recipient but also a careful consideration of their interests, status, and preferences. From high-quality sweets to artisan products from my homeland – each gift is an ambassador of my esteem and respect. Through this conscious act of preparation and giving, I am not just entering the complex world of China as a visitor but as someone who is ready to engage with and honor its culture. Why is this important? Well, this decision, as minor as it might seem, is deeply rooted in the rich culture and traditions of China and reflects a deeper recognition and respect for them. Presenting gifts in China is more than just a friendly gesture. It’s a central element of social etiquette, deeply embedded in the philosophy of reciprocity and respect. A carefully selected gift opens doors, builds bridges, and solidifies relationships – be it in a business context or in private dealings. This practice reflects the value that Chinese culture places on harmony and interpersonal relationships.
I already know: Each gift presentation will be a moment of exchange that not only shares cultural values but also creates personal connections. And if you now say: This is really not that important anymore today, then I tell you: Yes. Absolutely. It’s a clear sign that, even in a world dominated by technology and speed, the time and thought invested in a carefully selected host gift are of immeasurable value. It’s a reminder that at the heart of every business or personal relationship stands the human factor – a lesson that is significant in every culture…
I am now looking forward to my flight and all the subsequent encounters. What will I experience? I will be happy to report on this in the coming days…
